—Why the mounted answers do not work in here

There is nowhere to put a screw that stays put.

The screw-mount holders want a permanent flat panel
Camco’s is $3.71 with four screws supplied; another version offers “Mounting screws included - or use tape”. Both put a permanent hole or a permanent adhesive in a surface that is also your counter, your table or your bed.
The vacuum mount wants a smooth non-porous panel
SeaSucker’s horizontal holder needs a 4.5-inch vacuum cup on a smooth surface. Textured wall board, fabric and grained laminate are not that.
The magnets want exposed steel
GoWesty is straightforward about it: use it “anywhere you’ve got some exposed steel for the heavy-duty magnets to grab”. Inside a camper, exposed steel is mostly not a thing.
And every ounce is competing with water
A Four Wheel Hawk is 1,200 pounds dry. A Rockwood 1640LTD folding pop-up publishes 793 pounds of payload capacity to cover water, propane, food, clothes and gear. Nothing gets carried in here that has not earned it.

—Does it actually work

It wobbles. Then it settles.

Somebody climbs into the cabover, or drops onto the dinette bench, and the drink comes back level. The base is 5.2 inches across and spreads the load rather than balancing on a point.

The base

5.2 inches across and fixed. It moves the edge the drink would have to tip over much further out, so the whole thing has to lean much further before it goes.

The fins

Six of them, holding the bottom inch. Cans and bottles slide on from the top; tumblers drop in. Drink and base then rock as one piece.

The glass lid

A folding glass cooktop cover is flat, hard and slippery. Grippy TPU on a wide foot is about the best thing you can put a drink in on one.

Bases between two and three inches. Measure the bottom, not the rim.

A standard 12 oz can is 2.6 inches across the bottom. A Stanley Quencher 40 oz is 3.1 and seats snug. A mug with a handle does not seat at all — the handle lands exactly where the fins grip, and in a camper where the enamel mug is close to standard issue that is worth knowing before you order.

—The limits, in one place

What it does not do.

It is not for use while you are driving.
Nothing loose is. It has no screws, no magnets and no suction, so it belongs to a camper that is parked. It goes in a drawer before you pull out, along with everything else on the counter.
It does not stay put through a conversion.
That is the design, but say it plainly: when the cooktop cover goes up or the dinette becomes a bed, you lift it off first. One second per unit, and they nest.
Keep it off a hot cooktop.
It goes on the closed glass cover, not on a burner and not on a lid that has just been used. It is TPU, not cookware.
A handled enamel mug does not seat.
The handle lands exactly where the fins grip. In a camper that is close to the standard vessel, so it is on the page rather than in the small print.
It is not spill-proof, and wind is not something it resists.
It resists tipping by widening the footprint. Outside on the tailgate an empty can still goes over in enough wind; this does not add weight.

Straight answers.

Can I leave it on the counter?

Only while the counter is a counter. When the cooktop cover lifts or the sink cover comes off, it goes in the drawer. That is one second and it is the whole reason this exists rather than a screwed-down holder.

Can I use it while driving?

No. It has no fastener of any kind, so it is for a camper that is parked. Everything loose gets stowed before you move.

Will it sit on the glass cooktop cover?

Yes, when the cover is closed and cool. A folding glass cover is flat, hard and slippery, which is exactly where a wide grippy foot earns its keep. Never on a burner.

What about my enamel mug?

Straight no. The handle lands where the fins grip. Every handled mug is the same answer.

How much does it weigh?

About 3.6 ounces each. A Rockwood 1640LTD publishes 793 pounds of payload for water, propane, food and gear, so four of these are not the thing that puts you over.

Will it hold a 40 oz Stanley?

Yes. The Quencher H2.0 40 oz is about 3.1 inches at the base, inside the range the fins flex to. Snug rather than drop-in.

Where does it stow?

A drawer. They are 2.8 inches tall, nest into each other, and do not rattle against anything.

True. If you have a panel that is only ever a panel, screw the Camco to it and keep eleven dollars. The surfaces this is for are the ones that turn into something else twice a day.

Having to move it sounds like a faff.

It is the same motion as clearing the plates, and only when the surface actually converts. If nothing in your camper converts, you do not have this problem and you should buy the screw-mount.

Everything in here has to earn its space.

Agreed, and that is the right test. 2.8 inches tall, 3.6 ounces, and they nest. Ninety days is long enough to decide whether it earned it.

Will it survive being stored all winter?

No hinge, no spring, no metal to corrode. Long-term UV exposure is not something we have tested, so we do not make a claim about it.
